Forms Without Timing Marks
for Image Scanner Implementation Only

It is possible, in limited circumstances, to define and scan a single form that does not contain timing marks or form ID marks. Such a form must be the only document in the ScanTools application. It can be processed in the following ways provided it was defined using an absolute unit of measure (.001 in or .01 mm):

Graybox Processing

Both Standard and ICR/OCR Grayboxes can be defined, in the Modify Grid Measurement dialog to specify Evaluate Region and Clip Region locations. Cell/TM and Hybrid Units of Measurement cannot be used since they require the presence of timing marks.

ICR/OCR grayboxes can be defined and ICR/OCR data can be resolved if you have installed the optional RealTime Character Recognition optional component.

An Edit Profile can be defined with Graybox Edits. Graybox clips appear in the post-scan editor, as called for by the edit profile.

iNAME Image Archiving

Post-scan archiving for both sparse clips and whole sheet clips is supported.

iNAME scan-time archiving for whole sheet clips is supported.  However, scan-time archiving for sparse clips is not supported.

NOTE: Whole sheet clips can be archived without being defined using an absolute unit of measure.

CAUTION: If the iNAME Configuration includes sparse clips, an error appears at scan-time and scanning is terminated.

We do not recommend use of the Background Form Merge feature. If used, the quality of the merged image will not be ideal.

See Archiving Single Sheets without Form ID Marks or Timing Marks for a detailed procedure for creating a ScanTools application using iNAME scan-time archiving.
