Options Menu

The Options Menu appears in Scantron DesignExpert only.

Use this menu option… …to…

Rulers…

Set units of measurement and turn the ruler display on or off. See Ruler Settings dialog for details.

Snap to Grid

Turn the snap to grid option on or off. Snap to grid causes shapes to align to the background grid of the workspace.

When this option is turned on, all shapes except response grids snap to the nearest half-grid dimension. This means that although the background grid displayed in your document is either 1/5", 1/6", or 1/8", it snaps to grid at every 1/10", 1/12", or 1/16" when you move a shape with this option turned on. Response grids always snap to the whole grid spacing of 1/5", 1/6", or 1/8".

NOTE: Scantron DesignExpert software always uses this option for response grids, even if this option is turned OFF.

Advanced Page Setup…

Change parameters for a single page of a document. We recommend only advanced users change these settings. See Advanced Page Setup (OMR) - Overview for details.

Modify Field Attributes…

Verify the order of the scanning output fields and the characteristics of data that will be collected using the OMR response grids or bar codes on the document.

NOTE: This is required before you use the Export to ScanTools (below) option.

Job Specification…

Print a Job Specification Sheet to send with the form to Scantron. This includes complete details about the scanning elements you have defined in your document. See Job Specification dialog for details.

Export to ScanTools…

Create a ScanTools application file and optional edit profile from the currently open Scantron DesignExpert file. The application can be used by the ScanTools scanning module for scanning, and also can be imported into the ScanTools application module for further definition, if needed. The edit profile file can be used by the ScanTools scanning module.

See Export to ScanTools for details, including ScanTools version compatibility with Scantron DesignExpert generated application and profile files.

Export Background Form Image…

This feature is only available with the PrintFlex option.

Save each page of your Scantron DesignExpert OMR document as a 200 dpi TIFF (Tag Image File Format) graphic file. These files can then be saved or copied to your ScanTools software Applications folder for use with your ScanTools application. These images can be merged with scanned form images, enabling users to view data on a form within the context of printed formatting such as response positions, captions, lines, boxes, and shading. They can also be displayed in the ScanTools Plus (version 7.0 and later) Application Module grid definition area, making it easier for the ScanTools application developer to define grids for the application.

See Export to TIFF dialog for details.

NOTE: This option only applies to forms with US Letter or A4 page sizes.

Text Options…

Set parameters for text in a text box, or set the default caption text characters for a caption text box. See Text Options dialog - Overview for details.

Remove a page or pages from your document. This is not available for one-page documents. See Delete Pages dialog for details.
