Importing a Document

CAUTION: Whenever you change an application, all edit, score, and conversion profiles associated with that application become invalid. If you import a document into an application containing other documents, neither the profiles associated with that document nor the profiles currently residing in the application are valid in the destination application. The profiles must be re-created; see Re-creating Profiles.

You can import a document in the following three ways:

Use the following procedure to import a document:

  1. In the application module, open the application you want to import a document into.
  2. On the Document menu, select Import ScanTools Document.
  3. The Select Application File dialog box appears. Select the application containing the document you wish to import, and click OK. Only applications with extension .sds can be imported.
  4. The Select Document to Import dialog box appears. Select the title of the document you wish to import and the document number that you wish the imported document to be in the destination application, and click OK.
  5. During the import operation several items are checked for duplication. The following is a list of the possible dialog boxes that can appear when a duplicate item is encountered. Click on the item for a complete description and steps of action for that dialog box:
  1. During import, ScanTools Plus checks for background form images associated with the document and imports them along with the document.
  2. After importing a document, save the application in one of two ways: 1) Use the Save function on the Application menu to save it to the same application name and number or, 2) Use the Save As function to save it to a different application name and number.

You see a message stating that all existing profiles associated with the open application will be invalid (see previous CAUTION note). You must re-create the profiles.

If you do not want to keep the changes made by the import operation, you can exit the application module without saving changes by doing one of the following:
