Total Score dialog - Score Profile

The Total Score dialog is used when creating or editing a score profile. You access it by pressing the left mouse button while the magnifying glass cursor appears over the text line Store total score in field under the Document heading of a Score Profile. It allows you to select which field in the output record stores the total score for this document. The total score is the sum of all subtests for this document. The field must be fixed length, at least 5 bytes long, and previously defined in the application using the Output Field Entry dialog.

You may use the same field to store the total score and any subtest scores if the field has enough space available. The scoring software calculates how much space is available in the fields and the Total Score dialog shows only the fields with enough remaining space for scores. See also Subtest Score dialog. A subtest score requires 4 bytes. If you elect to store total and subtest scores in the same field, the total score is always stored first followed by the subtest scores in the order the subtests are defined in the document in the profile. Scores are separated by spaces. Scores are left-justified with spaces filled in on the right.

NOTE: At least one subtest must be defined, even if the only score you want to store is the total score. See Add Subtest dialog.

Field

This list is enabled and contains all output record field names for this document that are fixed length and large enough (5 bytes or more) to store the total score. Select the field that you want to use to store the total score.

If you do not want to store the total score in a field, make sure there is no entry in the list, using the Delete key if necessary. If you had a field defined and want to change the selection to NONE, highlight the field name and press the Delete key. The field will be changed to NONE and will not appear in the score profile.
