Modify Graphic Colors dialog
Use this dialog to specify how color matching and/or substituting is performed between the original graphic file and the currently defined Scantron Standard or Pantone Solid colors in the document color list. When you are adding a graphic file, this dialog is automatically displayed as part of the process of importing the graphic file.
After you have made your selection, the graphic file is imported into the Scantron DesignExpert file, using the method selected. If you select Line Art or Single Color Halftone, you see a Substituting Colors progress dialog during the import process, and each time you open the Scantron DesignExpert file. After the graphic file has been completely imported, you cannot change the selection you made in this dialog.

Line Art (Select one or more document colors) |
Line Art graphics consist of solid color elements without gradations of tone. A line art graphic can consist of text, lines, boxes, and other shapes. One or more solid colors may be used. Typical examples include corporate logos and simple clip-art graphics. If you start with true line art, like a logo or clipart, using this selection to keep it line art is the best choice. Select one or more colors from the Document Colors list. The colors in the graphic file are compared to the document colors selected; the document color that most closely matches the graphic color is used, at 100% screen. To select more than one color, control+click each color. If the graphic file you are importing has less than 8 colors, this is the default selection. |
Single Color Halftone (Select one document color) |
A single color halftone is a reproduction of continuous tone artwork (such as a photograph or painting) that is created by photographing the image through a cross-line screen that breaks the image into closely spaced dots. Variations in printed dot size across a regularly spaced dot matrix give the final image the illusion of dimension and depth. Halftone graphics are usually printed in a single ink color. The most typical example is the reproduction of a black and white photograph. In many cases, you will want to convert a full color photo into a single color halftone image, usually black. Select one color from the Document Colors list. This selection causes all colors except white in the graphic file to be matched to the one color selected in the Documents Colors list in this dialog. If the graphic file you are importing has 8 or more colors, this is the default selection. |
Process Color (CMYK) |
Process color refers to a reproduction of continuous tone artwork (such as a color photograph or painting) in the original hues by overprinting halftones for each of the four process colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). Four printing plates are used, one for each color. Process color graphics provide the best reproduction of color artwork, but are more expensive to print because of the extra ink colors required. Automatically adds the Pantone colors CMYK to the document colors list. If your document already contains the maximum of 7 colors, and these colors are not included, you will receive a warning that the graphic file cannot be imported. To correct this, you delete some document colors or make a different selection from this dialog. |
