Importing Graphic Files
Scantron DesignExpert software supports importing these different graphic file formats:
File Extension | File Type |
---|---|
.BMP |
Windows Bitmap |
.DIB |
Device Independent Bitmap |
.EPS |
Encapsulated PostScript |
.JPG |
Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) |
.PCT |
Macintosh PICT |
.PCX |
PC Paintbrush |
.TIF |
Tag Image File Format (TIFF) |
NOTE: TIFF files using LZW compression are not supported.
Graphics must be in one of the graphic formats listed above. Object-oriented graphics, such as EPS files created in programs like Adobe Illustrator cannot be imported into Scantron DesignExpert software.
All of the above graphic file formats will work successfully when you print your scannable documents using the "New OMR File - Laser Printer" option with a laser printer.
If you are preparing documents to send to Scantron Print Services for printing, please follow the Print Services Art Files Requirements.
Color matching
When you import a graphic file, the Modify Graphic Colors dialog automatically appears as part of the import process. In this dialog you select which type of color conversion Scantron DesignExpert software uses while importing the file. The option you select determines how color matching and/or substitution is performed between the original graphic file and the currently defined DesignExpert Colors or Pantone Solid Colors in the document color list.
Graphics Copy and Paste
We do not recommend copying a graphic from one document and pasting it to another.
Copying and pasting graphics within a document is acceptable.
CAUTION (graphics from a Microsoft Word document): Microsoft Word converts images into an RTF rendering; they are not direct graphics. This seriously degrades the image quality if you copy the graphics to another application. We do not recommend copying images out of a Word document and using them in any other application.
