File Menu

The File Menu appears in both Scantron DesignExpert and the MergePrint Utility.

Use this menu item…

New...
(Scantron DesignExpert only)

Display the Getting Started dialog where you can create a new file.

Open...

Open an existing Scantron DesignExpert file or merge template file.

Closes the current Scantron DesignExpert file. If you have made changes in the current editing session you are asked if you want to save your changes.

Merge Wizard…
(MergePrint only; this appears on the Tools menu in Scantron DesignExpert)

Appears in the menu only after you open a Scantron DesignExpert file; start the Merge Wizard.

Save
(Scantron DesignExpert only)

Name (first time you save the document) and save the open file.

Save As...
(Scantron DesignExpert only)

Save the open file under a new name, location, or type. The file types that are available change depending on the current file. See File Types for more information on which types are available.

Shape Library
(Scantron DesignExpert only)

View the Shape Library options:

Use this menu option…	…to…
Large Icon	Display each item in the Shape Library with a larger graphic icon. Fewer shapes appear in the Shape Library icon area, but you can see them more clearly.
Small Icon	Display each item in the Shape Library with a smaller graphic icon. More shapes appear in the Shape Library icon area, but you may not be able to see them clearly.
New...	Clear the current Shape Library icons. At this point you may begin to build a new Shape Library, using the Add Element to Library selection (below). Once you have done that, you will be prompted to save the Shape Library.
Open...	Select a Shape Library file. Shape Library files have the extension .slb. Opening a Shape Library displays that library in the Shape Library area, on the left-hand side of the workspace. You must have Shape Library selected (checked) on the View Menu to see the icons that make up the Shape Library.
Close	Close the currently displayed Shape Library. TIP: To hide the Shape Library area completely, de-select Shape Library in the View menu.
Save	Saves the Shape Library.
Save As...	Save the Shape Library under a new name or location.
Add Element to Library...	Add a shape to a Shape Library. See Adding or Modifying Library Elements for details.
Delete Element from Library...	Remove an item from a Shape Library. At the prompt, confirm that you want to delete the element.
Modify Element Description...	Change the shape's written description. See Adding or Modifying Library Elements for details.

Print...
(Scantron DesignExpert only)

Print copies of your document. You can also access the Printer Alignment controls for all documents and you can enable or disable PrintFlex for OMR documents. See Print dialog for details.

Print Setup...
(Scantron DesignExpert only)

Change the printer settings. See Windows help for details.

Recent file list

View and open the most recently used Scantron DesignExpert files.

Exit

Closes the software. You will be prompted to save any files that contain unsaved changes.
