Opening a Data File

The Modify Data File dialog enables you to edit the data in the data file selected in the file bar of the ScanTools main window. You open the Modify Data File dialog by clicking Open from the Data File menu.

CAUTION: Do NOT use the backspace key or the Delete key when modifying a data file.

Move the cursor to the information you want to change. Use the space bar to remove existing text or simply type over existing text you want to change.

Options

Displays a dialog with viewing options. More info....

Delete Record/Undelete Record

Enables you to flag records so the record is not processed if the data file is subsequently edited, scored, or converted. You can tell if a record is flagged for deletion; the button changes to Undelete Record. You can change the deletion status using this button. Records marked for deletion are flagged in the NCS Header.

NOTE: If you delete a record and then move to another record or click the Cancel button, that record will remain deleted. Clicking the Cancel button only removes changes (deletions and other editing actions) made to the current record.

Once you have marked a record for deletion, it is not actually deleted until you perform post-scan conversion on the data file. You must do the converting after you close the data file. See Deleting Records from a Data File.

Go To

Enables you to select the document record displayed.
