Test Run - Download

Once you have generated a Command File, downloaded the Command File to your scanner, and sent the Runtime Parameters that define the scanning run, you are ready to do a scanning test run.

Pressing the Test Run button, or selecting Test Run from the Actions menu of the Download main window initiates scanning. The options governing the test run come from the Test Run Options you specified.

NOTE: The application specified in the Runtime Parameters must be the one selected in the Download main window.

The current Runtime Parameters are sent to the scanner unconditionally. The command file specified must exist; it is downloaded to the scanner if it is not already there. If the command file was generated with the Download Firmware Version 2.0 or higher selected, the scanner must have version 2.0 or higher firmware to execute properly. After these Download checks are complete, this dialog box appears.

When the Test Run dialog box appears, the codes for the scanner runtime parameters appear in the Data field.

To begin scanning, ensure that the documents you want to scan are properly placed in the scanner, and then select the Start Scanning button.

When scanning has started, the Stop Scanning button becomes operable. If you want to discontinue scanning for some reason, select the Stop Scanning button.

The Data field shows the test run record(s) (a record is a document; it can be a sheet or booklet).

You can select (highlight) any characters to see their position in the record.

The Total Scanned field shows the number of records scanned.

The Record Size field shows how big the current record is.

The Cursor On field shows the record byte(s) on which the cursor rests. If you select (highlight) a range of characters, the range of positions is shown.

Download software keeps the previous five records. To see any of the five previous records, select the Previous Record button.

If you are viewing a record previous to the most recently scanned record, the Next Record button becomes operable, and you can select it to view newer records. When you are viewing the most recent record, the Next Record button is inoperable (grayed out).

If errors occur during the scanning test run, the associated message(s) appears in the Error field.

When the test run is complete, and you have viewed the records you want to see, select the Close button.
