Conversion Options dialog

The Conversion Options dialog box enables you to select settings for post-scan converting of a data file.

CAUTION: The settings in this dialog box affect only the currently selected application. Each application has its own Conversion Options settings. You should check the Conversion Options settings each time you select a different application and before you convert data.

This dialog box can be accessed from both the Main Window and the Application Module.

If you selected Conversion Options on theConfirmations dialog, the Conversion Options dialog box automatically appears when you initiate a conversion action by clicking the Convert button, pressing the F6 key, or selecting Convert on the Actions Menu. This allows you to double-check the settings before you actually perform the convert action.

Data File

Use current

When Use current is selected, the data file currently selected in the file bar is used for converting.

Use selected

When Use selected is selected, you must select a data file from the adjoining drop-down menu, not from the Main Window file bar. The file you select here overrides the data file selection appearing in the file bar. When you perform a conversion, the file bar automatically appears with the data file you selected here.

Conversion profile

Use current

When Use current is selected, the conversion profile currently selected in the file bar is used for converting.

Use selected

When Use selected is selected, you must select the conversion profile from the adjoining drop-down menu, not from the Main Window file bar. The profile you select overrides the profile appearing in the file bar. When you perform a conversion, the file bar automatically appears with the conversion profile selected here.

Output file

Use default name

Click this radio button if you want the name of the conversion output file to be created by using the current data file name with the output format’s file extension.

For example, the data file name is batch1.dat and the conversion operation is set up to generate a Delimited ASCII DLM output format. The output file will have the name batch1.dlm.

Use other

Click this radio button to do one of the following:

Replace existing files

This affects only the conversion output file, not the original data (.dat) file.

NOTE: If you scanned records in the 1900s and then scan records in the 2000s to append records to the data file, the two-digit year for date scanned can be converted only to either 19xx or 20xx for all records in the file. This is done using a conversion profile, NCS Header Year Format - Conversion Profile. You cannot mix 19xx and 20xx dates in the converted file header.
