Migrating to the MergePrint Utility with PrintFlex

If you are currently using MergePrint utility software to print forms or to personalize printed forms at distributed locations, you can migrate to printing the entire form, with or without personalization, at your distributed locations using MergePrint utility software with the PrintFlex option. The migration requirements and steps are generally as follows. Your application may differ somewhat.

If you are upgrading from using MergePrint utility software to personalize printed forms to using MergePrint utility software with PrintFlex, you will be able to print your entire form, including personalization, on your laser printer. Your application developer may need to provide a new merge template or other files if the application has changed.

1. If necessary, convert your printed form to a Scantron DesignExpert software version. Some pre-printed forms were not designed with Scantron DesignExpert software and must therefore be converted.
2. Check your form design against the "ScanFlex Rules for Success" to verify that it will work with ScanTools software. The "rules" are included in both Scantron DesignExpert and ScanTools software Help.
3. If necessary, update your form design to conform with the "ScanFlex Rules for Success."
4. Check your converted or updated form design to verify that it will work with your ScanTools application.
5. If necessary, update your form or your application.
6. Check your converted or updated form design to verify that it will work with your merge database.
7. If necessary, update your form or your database.
8. Test print your forms with MergePrint utility software with PrintFlex, using your paper and laser printer. Use the printing instructions and testing tools and procedures provided with Scantron DesignExpert software.
9. Install and use MergePrint utility software with PrintFlex software at your distributed print locations.
10. Provide your distributed print location users with forms printing and testing instructions.
11. Install and use ScanTools software to scan your forms.
12. Install and use a Scantron image scanner, such as the iNSIGHT 4ES to scan your forms.

Your application may differ somewhat. Review the Migrating Document Types information for the type of migration you have planned and adapt your process as necessary.
