Enter Data Filename Format To Be Used In The Item
for Image Scanner Implementation Only

This dialog enables you to include all or part of the data filename in the directory, filename, or index format string. A portion of the data filename can be pulled out by:

The portion of the data filename pulled out by either method will be either truncated or padded with trailing "_" (underscore) characters to match the number of characters indicated in the Starting/Ending Character controls.

The optional Word Separator and Word Number controls specify a method of pulling out a specific piece of the data filename. If either of these is undefined, the whole data filename is used to pull out the correct characters. If the separator or the number of words broken up by this separator doesn’t exist in the entered data filename, the whole data filename will be used to pull out the correct characters.

For example, if your data filename is "Eagan_King_123", representing a city, school name, and school building number, you can pull out the school number by specifying:

Word Separator = "_"

Word Number = "3"

Verification Prompt = "Building Number"

Starting Character = "1"

Ending Character = "10"

The portion of the data filename pulled out will be "123_______", 123 followed by 7 underscores for the 10 characters specified.

Word Separator (optional)

The Word Separator is used, with the Word Number, to specify a method of pulling out a specific piece of the data filename to be used in your format string.

Word Number (optional)

The Word Number is used, with the Word Separator, to specify a method of pulling out a specific piece of the data filename to be used in your format string.

Verification Prompt (optional)

Optionally, you can prompt the application user to verify that the data filename is correct and to re-enter it if it is incorrect.

In this example, the verification prompt to the application user will be:

The following data was taken from the data filename for the Building Number

123_______

Is this correct?

The application user can then select Yes to accept what was pulled out of the data filename or select No to enter something else.
