Editing Data Files Manually

After scanning, you can edit the contents of a ScanTools data file manually, using the ScanToolsModify Data File window.

CAUTION: Do NOT use the backspace key when modifying a data file.

  1. Select the application that is associated with the data file.
  2. Select the data file you want to edit.
  3. Select Open from the Data File menu. The Modify Data File window appears.
  4. Use the Modify Data File dialog to view or edit document records in the data file. If you want to flag records so they will not be included in further editing, scoring, or converting, use the Delete Record button.
  5. If you want a file with the records actually deleted, you must perform post-scan conversion to create a second file where the record will not be included. See Deleting Records from a Data File.
  6. Click the OK button to save your changes and exit the dialog.
