Set Up the Scanner

The only way to change the hardware configuration or communication parameters of an OpScan scanner is by scanning in a configuration sheet. This discussion assumes that all scanners are configured properly at the factory or by scanning in the correct configuration sheet.

The ScanningManager class must know how to communicate with the scanner before you can scan any documents. The following actions are needed to complete scanner setup.

NOTE: The first three actions are typically only needed the first time the application is run, or whenever you change scanners or equipment on the current scanner or the application’s use of the equipment.

Each time ScanningManager is instantiated or before calling Scan or Diagnose, update ScanningManager.ActiveScanner.Configuration from the information saved in step 3.

  1. Look for a Connected Scanner
  1. Query scanner model and specify its optional equipment
  1. Save Scanner Configuration Information
  1. Specify Scanner Configuration for ScanningManager

For EZData scanners, the properties below are the only valid settings for HardwareConfig:
