Define Index - Edit
for Image Scanner Implementation Only

The Define Index dialog edits an index value for an image clip file generated during scanning. This index is not used by ScanTools but is created for the archiving system that will be used to store and access the image files.

Index Name

Assign a meaningful name to your index.

Index Format String

The format for the index appears in the Index Format String area. You cannot enter the index format string directly; you must create it within the Build Index Format String For Selected Index dialog by selecting from one or more of 15 different sources of variable information from the application and from data generated by the application during scanning.

Edit

Use the Edit button to open the Build Index Format String For Selected Index dialog where you can define a format string to create the desired index.

Field To Hold Index

The Field To Hold Index area shows the name of the field in your application output record where the index can optionally be stored. This field must be present in your application so that you can select it for this purpose. You cannot enter the field name directly; you must select it within the Select Field To Store Index dialog.

Edit

Select Edit to open the Select Field To Store Index dialog where you can select a field within the application output record to store the index.

NOTE: Field names are case sensitive. For example, "NAME" and "name" are unique field names.

Delete

Select Delete to remove the association of the index with the field.
