Edit Options dialog

Using this dialog, you select settings for post-scan editing of a data file when using an edit profile.

CAUTION: The settings in this dialog affect only the currently selected application. Each application has its own Edit Options settings. You should check the Edit Options settings each time you select a different application and before you edit a data file.

This dialog can be accessed from both the Main Window and the application module.

When you access Edit Options from here, any changes take effect the next time you edit using this application. Settings made here override the default values that were defined in the application module.

When you access Edit Options from here, you are defining default values that will be used when the application is first selected, after it has been installed in the Main Window.

If you select the Edit Options entry on theConfirmations dialog, the Edit Options dialog will automatically appear when you initiate editing by clicking the Edit button, pressing the F3 key, or selecting Edit on the Actions Menu. This allows you to double-check the settings before you actually perform the edit action.

Data File and Edit Profile

The Data File group box and the Edit Profile group box determine what data file and edit profile will be used for post-scan editing.

Use current

Select Use current to select the Data File and/or Edit Profile from the Main Window file bar. The data file and/or edit profile currently selected in the Main Window file bar are used for editing.

Use selected

Select Use selected to select the data file and/or edit profile from the adjoining drop-down menu in this dialog, not from the Main Window file bar. The data file and/or edit profile you select here overrides any selection appearing in the Main Window file bar. When you initiate an edit operation, the Main Window file bar will automatically change to display the data file and/or edit profile you select here.

Edit normally

If you select this edit option, ScanTools software will present for correction records that have not yet been accepted. This consists of records that an edit profile has not yet verified, as well as records that may have previously failed an edit verification. Records that have already been accepted will be skipped.

Recheck all records for edit failures

If you select this edit option, ScanTools software will present for correction all records that are currently failing an edit, regardless of the state of the Edit Pass Flag or Grid Error Flag in the NCS Header. This edit option is useful if you suspect that some records were erroneously accepted. By using this edit mode, all records that were previously accepted with errors will be presented for correction.

NOTE: Records marked for deletion are NOT processed when you perform post-scan editing or scoring, even if Recheck all records for edit failures is selected.

Clear all edit flags

If you select this edit option, all edit flags in the selected data file will be cleared. Edit pass flags (byte 22 of NCS Header) and grid error flags (byte 24 of NCS Header) will be replaced with spaces in the data file. Flags for online edit correction or post-scan editing will be cleared. No editing will be performed.

This edit option is useful if you decide to use a different edit profile on the data file records. Each data record will be checked by the new edit profile.

NOTE: Records marked for deletion are NOT processed when you perform post-scan editing or scoring, even if Clear all edit flags is selected.
