A ScanTools application is a set of rules that governs how your PC collects data from your scanner and how it stores this information on your disk. Scantron provides Sample Applications with ScanTools software; you can select this option when you install ScanTools. To access the sample applications, you need to select the sample application and data files stored in the Applications and the Data Files directories respectively.
The sample applications are as follows:
This sample application contains a number of Scantron scannable documents with associated sample data files, as well as sample edit, score, and conversion profiles.
Background TIF images for sample form 221666 (Document Title: GPAS #221666 Dual Sided) are provided in scanned orientation for image scanner use. These files, 2216661.tif and 2216662.tif, are installed in the ScanTools Plus directory, in the Applications folder. You can use them to learn about setting up your application for imaging, including merging of background form images during editing or archiving. You can also use them during application definition to more easily and accurately locate and define grids in the Application Module grid definition area.
NOTE: The background form images provided with this sample are not visible when you use bitone color during the merge with the scanned image. This is because these particular forms are printed in a light color and the TIFs are therefore also light. You can overcome this by selecting the Fix Light Background option on the Image Clips dialog. The same technique can be used with any light color TIF.
This application used to be part of the 701 application but was moved out as a separate application because an application can no longer have multiple line spacings.
This sample application allows you to scan, resolve, and score all of the SelfScore Test Answer sheets. In addition, supported SelfScore test sheets (Non-Test Answer sheets) are identified and ignored. An output file is created containing the NCS Header information, key record and necessary information from the test sheet scanned—including the raw score.
This sample application allows you to scan, resolve, and score all of the SelfScore Survey sheets. An output file is created containing the NCS Header information, and necessary information from the survey sheet scanned. It contains the following documents:
This sample application allows you to scan, resolve, and score all of the SelfScore Ballot sheets. An output file is created containing the NCS Header information, and necessary information from the survey sheet scanned. It contains the following documents:
This sample application allows you to scan, resolve, and score EZData Form 250042, Side A and B.
This sample application allows you to perform a simple data collection test with the Scantron iNSIGHT 20 or iNSIGHT 30 scanner and form #223127. In the application, only the grid titled "NAME" has been defined, to show that data is being properly collected by ScanTools Plus when sheets are scanned on the iNSIGHT 20 or iNSIGHT 30 scanner. The test is documented in the Getting Started section of the iNSIGHT 20 and iNSIGHT 30 Data Collection and Document Imaging Guide.
This sample application allows you to scan, resolve, and score standard 100 Item General Purpose Answer Sheet #223022 with associated sample data file, as well as sample edit, score, and conversion profiles. A background TIF image is also provided for image scanner use: for image archiving, for editing, and for display in the Application Module grid definition area.
