The first step in developing user exit routines is to decide which scanner actions you want to cause and/or which buffers you want to modify during each user exit.
Refer to the description of the particular user exit for information about its possible actions.
After you decide what you want, you need to write user exit code that instructs ScanTools software and/or the scanner to perform the actions you desire. All other code needed for installing and implementing user exits is provided. The files that contain the code are listed and described in User Exit Program Files.
The code must be written in the C or C++ language. We strongly recommend you use the ScanTools User Exit Wizard provided at installation time. Separate wizard files are supplied for the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET environments.
