Image Parameter Tuning dialog
for Image Scanner Implementation Only

NOTE: This function should be used only for diagnostic purposes, and under the supervision of Scantron. It is NOT intended for use by customers, and should be used only when advised by Scantron support personnel. Altering the Scantron default settings can impact the integrity of the data collected, and it nullifies the published Scantron Scannable Documents Guarantee.

The Image Parameter Tuning dialog is accessed from the Diagnostic menu and lets you set these parameters:

Timing Mark Threshold

Setting of how dark a pixel must be to count as the edge of a timing mark.

Edge Threshold

Setting of how light a pixel must be to count as the edge of paper.

Timing Mark Tolerance

Number of pixels of skew tolerated in timing mark alignment.

Leading Edge Tolerance

Number of pixels of skew tolerated on the leading edge of the form.

Trailing Edge Tolerance

Number of pixels of skew tolerated on the trailing edge of the form.

Vertical Edge Tolerance

Number of pixels of skew tolerated on the guide edge of the form.

Top Sheet Width

For OpScan iNSIGHT 70/150 and 5000i scanners only. With the top camera, the observed width in pixels of an 8.5" sheet of paper. This value determines the actual horizontal resolution as opposed to the nominal value of 240 dpi. This value is used only at scan time; it does not affect portability of clips.

Bottom Sheet Width

For OpScan iNSIGHT 70/150 and 5000i scanners only. With the bottom camera, the observed width in pixels of an 8.5" sheet of paper. This value determines the actual horizontal resolution as opposed to the nominal value of 240 dpi. This value is used only at scan time; it does not affect portability of clips.

Reset and Default Buttons

NOTE: The Reset and Default buttons are two entirely different functions. Read the following two paragraphs so that you do NOT confuse these two functions. Remember that altering the Scantron default settings can impact the integrity of the data collected, and it nullifies the published Scantron Scannable Documents Guarantee.

Select the Reset button to restore the Image Parameter Tuning values that were displayed when this dialog first appeared. Use this operation when you have adjusted one or more of the values while this dialog is active and need to return to a known set of values present at the beginning of this session. These are not necessarily the default values.

Select the Default button to return the Image Parameter Tuning values to the Scantron recommended default values. Use this button to ensure that you are using the default values or to return to the Scantron recommended values after scanning documents with non-standard values.
