Add Skew Mark dialog

You access this dialog box from one of the following when defining a specific sheet in an application:

Use it to add a new skew mark, or change the attributes of an existing skew mark. If skew marks are printed on the document, they must be defined manually using this dialog. Skew marks are not automatically defined by scanning a sheet and/or adding a background image .tif file.

Cell Location

Enter a number for the Cell position along the timing mark. This is the X-axis of the form. Range of valid numbers is:

  • 1-47 for .166 spacing (6/inch) forms. The recommended value is 45.
  • 1-48 for .166 spacing (48 cells) forms, for Image Scanners only. The recommended value is 46.
  • 1-40 for .200 spacing (5/inch) forms. The recommended value is 38.
  • 1-24 for .300 spacing forms. The recommended value is 22.

TM Location

Enter the TM (Timing Mark) number. This is the Y-axis of the form. Range of valid numbers is 1 - the currently defined number of timing marks for the side of the sheet selected.

Recommended timing mark values for scanners except the iNSIGHT 20 and iNSIGHT 30: assuming 3 skew marks per side of sheet:

  • 2 (the second timing mark)
  • a timing mark midway between timing mark 2 and the second to last timing mark
  • the second to last timing mark number

Recommended timing mark values for iNSIGHT 20 and iNSIGHT 30 scanners: assuming 3 skew marks per side of sheet:

  • timing mark closest to one inch down the sheet
  • timing mark closest to 3.5 inches down the sheet
  • the timing mark closest to 9 inches down the sheet

Additional guidelines for the iNSIGHT 20 and iNSIGHT 30 scanner are:

If there is no data before the 3.5 inch mark, then the first mark can be omitted.

If there is no data after the 3.5 inch mark, then the last mark can be omitted.

The first mark can be moved down the form to the first timing mark.

The last mark can be moved up the form to the last timing mark.

Side

Select whether the skew mark is on the Top or Bottom of the sheet.
