SessionInfo.LightSource property

Read-Write Property.

Type: L_LIGHT_SOURCE_ENUM

For Image Scanners Only - 5000i and iNSIGHT scanners.

Determines which scanner light source is used for all documents in the current scanning session. The solution program should change this property only before the call for ScanningManager.Scan method.

If a ScanTools Plus user exit is used with the solution program, the SessionInfo.LightSource property setting always overrides any setting in the user exit.

Note: This property does NOT affect the light source for ScanningManager.Diagnose method, because Diagnose does not use SessionInfo.

IDL

propget, HRESULT LightSource([out, retval] L_LIGHT_SOURCE_ENUM *pVal);

propput, HRESULT LightSource([in] L_LIGHT_SOURCE_ENUM newVal);

Values

L_LIGHT_SOURCE_USE_CURRENT (Default)

Use the value from one of the following sources:

  • ScanTools Plus application definition file; was set using the Application Settings dialog or during migration of an older ScanTools application.

Note: You may need to double-check the value currently in the application; especially if the application was from an older version of ScanTools/Image ScanTools software. If your application requires migrating, and you do not perform migration and saving in ScanTools Plus software, it will be silently migrated by ScanTools Plus Link Runtime, and may not have all the appropriate settings for your needs. Light Source is a setting that is affected by migrating applications. Make sure you read the ScanTools Plus help about Migrating Applications and the Set Light Source dialog.

  • ScanTools Plus user exit point INIT; this can change what was in the application definition.

L_LIGHT_SOURCE_IR

Use the Infrared light (pencil read) source on the scanner. Infrared is designed for Number 2 pencil marks. Any ink marks are typically NOT detected.

L_LIGHT_SOURCE_RED

Use the Red light (ink read) source on the scanner. Red is designed for black or blue ink pen, and Number 2 pencil marks.
