Scoring

The ScanTools score module allows you to score multiple-choice and true/false tests. Scoring consists of determining correct and incorrect responses by comparing the test data to key data. The key data is accessed through the score profile.

Scoring requires a Score Profile. You can create, edit, and view a score profile if you have the score module installed. For more information see:

How to Create a Score Profile

Viewing a Score Profile

You can score tests during scanning (online scoring), or later, using the data files after the sheets are scanned (post-scan scoring). Post-scan scoring requires the ScanTools score module.

NOTE: Records marked for deletion are not processed when you perform post-scan scoring.

Post-Scan Scoring

To score tests after the documents are scanned, use the following steps:

  1. Select the application associated with the documents.
  2. Check the currently defined Score Options dialog to see how you select the score profile and data file to be used for scoring.
  3. Select the score profile, either through score options or at the file bar. The score profile must have Keys stored in profile selected. See Key Data dialog.
  4. Select the data file either through score options or at the file bar.
  5. Start the scoring by pressing the Score button, or press the F5 function key, or select Score from the Actions menu.
  6. Once scoring has begun, the Scoring Progress dialog appears showing you how many records are scored.

CAUTION: If you attempt to score a data file that has already been scored, you will receive a warning message if you have Confirmations set for huge deletes. You should NOT re-score a file if any translations are performed.
