Scanner Read Levels

When you create an application you define the type of read level control (none, keyword, or absolute), a form ID/litho-code threshold, and a mark discrimination cutoff. These read controls are defined using the application module Options menu item, Read Controls dialog box.

Additionally at scanning time, ScanTools gives you the ability to set the read level threshold and the discrimination margin used by your scanner during a scanning run. You can do this using the Scanning Options dialog.

The table below shows the read level thresholds and discrimination margins used by Scantron scanners. It also shows the maximum read level considered a light mark for each model of scanner, the maximum read level used with each scanner, and the minimum read level pre slugged bubbles must have to be considered valid with each scanner. All values are hexadecimal.
