Automatic File Naming dialog

This dialog is accessed from the Scanning Options dialog, Define Autoname button. It enables you to specify a pattern for automatic data file naming.

Name Template

This field enables you to select from a number of predefined templates. The Description field shows a brief explanation of the selected predefined template. You can also define your own custom template.

The following autoname codes can be used within a name template:

*M

Month name, three-character (Jan, Feb, etc.)

*W

Day-of-week name, three-character (Sun, Mon, etc.)

*N

Month number (01-12)

*D

Day of the month (01-31)

*Y

Year - last two digits (00-99)

*H

Hours since midnight (00-23)

*T

Minutes past the hour (00-59)

*J

Julian date (001-366)

*S

Incremental sequence number (001-999)

When defining your own custom template, you can use any combination of literal text and autoname codes. For example:

Be sure to include the .dat extension when defining a custom template. If you don’t include the .dat extension, your scan will fail.

CAUTION: Do not use an autoname with the *S (sequence number) code in a Context File. This code is not supported in a context file. All other autoname codes are valid.

Sequence number

The radio buttons in this box enable you to automatically reset the sequence number daily, weekly, monthly, or never.

The Next field shows the next sequence number to be used.

The Use as batch number check box transfers the sequence number to the Batch Number field in the NCS Header.
