Importing Scanned Data into SQL Server

You can import data into Microsoft® SQL Server with the Data Transformation Services (DTS) wizard.

Use the SQL Server Enterprise Manager to create a new database in SQL Server. For help on creating a new database, see the SQL Server Help.

  1. From the Windows Start Menu, choose Programs>SQL Server>Import and Export Data. The DTS Import/Export wizard is displayed.
  2. From the Data Source list, select the Scantron OLE DB Provider.
  3. Click Properties. The Data Link dialog appears.
  4. Enter the paths to the data, application, image, or edit profile files and then click Next. See Configuring a Data Link for the Scantron OLE DB Provider.
  5. Select the database you created in step 1 then click Next.
  6. Select Copy Tables and Viewsthen click Next. The tables and views available in your data file (*.dat) are displayed as a list.
  7. Select one or more tables to copy data from then click Next.
  8. To run the query, click Next.
  9. When the progress bar has completed, click Done. The data is imported into the database.
  10. NOTE: ScanToolsand Data Services cannot access data files simultaneously:
