Application Definition Naming Restrictions

ScanTools Plus Link SDK Data Services will not work correctly if it uses or parses names that are also used in certain ScanTools Plus Application Definition settings. Use of certain special characters may also create risks.

Following is a list of restricted names and special characters so that you may avoid them. The information is also presented, where possible, in applicable help topics.

Application Definition Module > New Document dialog

Title

Do not use any of the following as a document title:

  • Clips
  • Edit Failures
  • Master
  • Simple View of Master
  • Simple View of x (where x is an existing document title)

Do not use only numbers as the document title; at least one alphabetic character must be used.

Do not use any of the following characters in a document title:

" ' [ ] ( )

Name

Do not use any of the following as a field name:

  • Archive Indices
  • Application Number
  • Serial Number
  • Batch Number
  • Date Scanned
  • Document Number
  • Edit Status
  • Altered Since Scanned
  • Grid Error Flag
  • Mark Threshold
  • Mark Discrimination
  • Scanning Release Level
  • Output Stacker
  • Worst Mark Intensity
  • Total Invalid Responses
  • Run Number
  • Key Record Flag
  • Record Scored Flag
  • Sheet Compile Edit Flags
  • Record Marked Deleted Flag
  • Record Converted Flag
  • IFD Offset
  • Count Of Clips
  • Length
  • Offset

Name

Do not use any of the following characters in a field name:
