This dialog appears when you select Document Options from the Edit Profile - Document popup.
The Edit Flags section of the dialog enables you to select whether ScanTools software writes special characters (edit flags) in the document record when a field fails an edit.
No Edit Flags (normal) is the default setting. No edit flags are written to the document record.
DOSSIER Style writes a special character to a field you define in the document output record. This field can be up to six characters wide and must immediately follow the NCS Header. You must define this field when creating the document in the application module. The character written to the record is the first character of the error message that is sent to the scanner’s transport printer. Up to six characters may appear in this field indicating six failed fields. You define this message in the On Failure dialog.
To use this option, you must define the alphanumeric field to hold the edit flag characters beginning at position 41 of the record format (following the NCS Header). Make sure it is long enough to hold all of the edit flags. You must also specify that the scanner includes a transport printer when you are configuring the system, even if it doesn’t. This makes it possible to enter a print string in the On Failure dialog.
For example, you have a NAME field and a GRADE field in a document. You want the words "NAME" and/or "GRADE" to be printed on the document if the associated field fails the edit verification when being scanning. You set up these text strings in the On Failure dialog as part of the Edit Profile. If the DOSSIER Style option is active, then the first character of NAME (N) and GRADE (G) appears in the 6-character Dossier field immediately following the NCS Header. When you open the Data File, the Modify Data File dialog will display the following:
Serial number: |
000001 |
NCS Header |
7000… |
Dossier |
NG |
Name |
**JOHN DOE |
Grade |
25 |
Sheet Compile Style is similar to Dossier Style, except that a two-digit code identifying which edit failed is written to the record. Edits are numbered in ascending order, from top to bottom, as they appear in the Modify Edit Profile window.
NOTE: Edit profiles with Sheet Compile or DOSSIER flags are not compatible with the Image Header Fields option. They both use the same area of the output record. If both are enabled, ScanTools will generate an error at scan-time, advising you to remove one of the options and restart scanning.
This section of the dialog enables you to control whether a document is rejected for too many light marks.
Maximum % Light Marks enables you to select (reject) a document which has more than a given percentage of light marks. The default is to not check this percentage.
