Creating a Data File

The New Data File dialog enables you to select the name for a new data file. You open this dialog by selecting New from the Data File menu.

Data File Name

Enter a data file name, using a maximum of 24 alphanumeric characters. Do NOT include any of the following special characters:

: " | < > ? / *

Also, do not use valid DOS device names such as:

aux, com1, com2, com3 com4, con, lpt1, lpt2, lpt3

If you enter the name of a currently existing data file, you see a warning message asking if you want to overwrite the contents of the existing file.
