Clip.CombineWithForm property

Read-Write property.

Type: Boolean

Allows you to obtain or set the state of whether or not the background form image combined with the clip. Including the background form image with the clip can make certain clips more readable. For example, a clip of OMR results would probably be useless without the context provided by the background form, while a clip of a signature or a handwriting sample would probably not benefit from the background form.

The background form image must be supplied by you, preferably as a TIFF file. Best results will be obtained if the TIFF is generated by the same software that was used to design the form, guaranteeing dimensional accuracy. Additionally, it should be in the same orientation as the way the form is scanned.

The resolution of the TIFF should be the minimum required for a clear, usable image in the editor at the desired zoom factor - larger TIFFs will take more time to load and may cause noticeable delays during editing. The TIFF can, and probably should, be in color. For best performance, the TIFF should be a 16-color image.

There are no minimum requirements for the size or quality of the TIFF, but it must be accurate dimensionally for clips to be superimposed on it. Good results have been obtained with a 16-color TIFF with a resolution of 1275 x 1650 (150 dpi); this file was 376KB in size.

If you are using this feature, the background form image tif file(s) must be included in the ScanTools Plus application definition, Image Clips dialog. That is where you specify the file name and location.
